Another new St. John’s English PhD! Her committee of Drs. Dohra Ahmad, Jen Travis, and Scott Combs send congratulations to Dr. Regina Corallo.
Her innovative dissertation, “The Journey To Becoming: A Cultural and Political Awakening To Nomadic Art in the Work of Afghan American Female Artists” focuses on three artists, Mariam Ghani, Leila Christine Nadir, and Wazhmah Osman. Dr. Corallo analyzes how they negotiate cultural and political identity and notions of home, homelands, borders, and boundaries in a cultural climate marked by discourses of terror and Otherness.
