Laura is a Ph.D. candidate in the English Department at St. John’s University. Her research interests center on film, comics and graphic novels as pedagogical devices, and popular culture. Her dissertation works to dissect film theory, 18th-21st century African American rhetorics and literature, 18th-21st century tragic mulatto rhetoric and literature, popular culture in literature and media, and feminist theory.

Laura currently teaches Global Literature and various film courses at St. John’s. In addition to her research and teaching, Laura is the co-founder of English department’s Graduate Organization Committee and currently serves as its Professionalization Chair.
