Peter Vanderberg

Peter Vanderberg is the author of Weather-Eye (Ghostbird Press), Crossing Pleasant Lake (Red Bird Press), celestial navigation (forthcoming from Finishing Line Press), and Drownproof (forthcoming from Black Centipede Press).  His poems have appeared in journals such as Prairie Schooner, Drunken Boat, Lumina, Cura, and Modern Haiku. He is the Founding Editor of Ghostbird Press, publishing chapbooks that incorporate both writing and visual art.  After serving in the U.S. Navy from 1999 – 2003, he began a career in secondary education, and continues to teach English and writing at Chaminade High School.  He received his MFA in Creative Writing from CUNY Queens College, and is currently a Ph.D. student at St. John’s University, NY.  Peter lives on Long Island with his wife and four children.

 

Research interests include Creative Writing, Contemporary American Poetry, Composition, Digital Pedagogy, and Independent Publishing.
