Laila Shikaki

B.A. in English Language and Literature, Birzeit University (2009)

M.F.A. in Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry, Chapman University (2013)

Laila Shikaki is a PhD student and poet from Palestine. She worked as an international volunteer and creative writing instructor at the United World College in Mostar, Bosnia and Hercegovina (2009). She also taught writing and literature classes at An-Najah and Birzeit Universities in Palestine where she was a full-time instructor for three years.

Laila’s poems have been featured in many literary magazines including TAB: The Journal of Poetry & Poetics, Sequoya, Nazzar Look, Pomona Valley Review and  We Chose Everything; a bilingual poetry anthology that features over 50 Arab poets published in Lebanon.

 Her research interests include Palestinian literature, Arab-American literature, Immigrant literature, memoir writing, and world literature.  She is passionate about Palestine, politics, and her niece Samya!
