
Job Announcement
The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GSAS), in collaboration with the Columbia University Writing Center, is hiring a director to establish the GSAS Writing Studio. The Studio’s mission is to support doctoral students as they pursue writing projects crucial to their research and careers. The director will develop the Studio into a vibrant site for intellectual community and growth, using both one-on-one interactions, effective work in groups, and the manifold opportunities afforded by current digital platforms. The director will report to the Vice Dean of GSAS, and work in close coordination with the Director of the Writing Center.
Bachelor’s degree required. At least 4 years of experience teaching writing or consulting in a writing center. At least 2 year of administrative experience in a writing center or writing program.
Advanced degree preferred. Research in writing center pedagogy;
knowledge of digital platforms for writing and collaboration; experience in writing across the curriculum or writing in the disciplines; grant-writing experience; leadership role in an academic department; facility with report writing, assessment, hiring, and supervising; and, expertise in teaching non-native English writers.
