The Department of Writing, Rhetoric, & Discourse (WRD) at DePaul University invites applications for a tenure-line position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 2018. We seek candidates with preparation in rhetoric and composition who specialize in technical and professional writing.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in technical, professional, and workplace writing and graduate courses in our MA concentration in Professional and Digital Writing, in an independent writing department that offers minor, major, and MA programs in writing and rhetoric. We welcome applications from candidates with any specialization within technical and professional writing; of particular interest are applicants with research and teaching interests in the areas of structured authoring, user research methodologies, and digital content management and creation (including video and audio) in professional settings. Applications should demonstrate a candidate’s potential to form research and teaching partnerships with Chicagoland’s vibrant industry or nonprofit organizations.
The department and the university sustain a strong commitment to undergraduate education and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural student population. We particularly seek candidates who mirror the diversity of the university and its surrounding urban community, and we specifically solicit applications from women, people of color, and individuals from other historically underrepresented groups. DePaul University is committed to diversity and equality in education and employment.
Applicants must have the PhD in rhetoric and composition or an appropriately related field in hand by July 1, 2018. Please submit online a cover letter, CV, writing sample, and three letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin October 10; applications will not be accepted after November 1.
