The Queens College English Department invites applications for a full-time lecturer, to begin in Fall 2016-2017. This lecturer will teach primarily in the department’s First Year Writing program, with some general education and upper-level writing classes. We seek dynamic educators who will contribute to the life of the department and take an active role in shaping the future of the program.
The teaching load is 27 hours per academic year; first year writing classes are 4 hours. The person appointed will also be expected to work as part of the administrative team for First Year Writing, earning up to 12 hours of course release a year. After five years, lecturers are eligible for a certificate of continuous employment (CCE), the equivalent of tenure for faculty hired to teach and perform related faculty functions, but without a research requirement. Lecturers are entitled to all faculty retirement and other fringe benefits.

Required Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in English or Composition and Rhetoric.
– Evidence of successful teaching.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Completed master’s degree and additional graduate work in in English, composition and rhetoric, or closely related field.
– At least two years of college teaching experience in first year writing.
