Upcoming talks in Women’s Studies and the Digital Humanities

Looking past the upcoming Easter Break into the last weeks of our spring, I want to note two talks in mid-April of special interest to English majors, grad students, and anyone else who reads this blog.

On Mon April 15 during common hour, Lynn Povich, journalist and author, will give a talk in DAC 416C. Sponsored by Women’s and Gender Studies at St. John’s.

On Th April 18, also during common hour in the IWS, our own DA student Vindra Dass will give the last talk in our Digital Humanities series for this year, about open-source scholarly publishing in the humanities. Vindra currently works for Springer Media, one of the largest publishers of open-source science scholarly research. We’re fortunate to have one of our own able to inform us about this rapidly-changing area in academic publishing that promises to change the way scholars and researchers move their work in the public sphere.

We’re also still hoping to reschedule David Farley’s Bookmarks event, but the schedule is looking fairly tight. Keep an eye on this space for further details. (You can also check the blog calendar.)
