In an early event kicking off National Poetry Month several SJU poets traveled across the boroughs to historic City College in Harlem on Thursday April 3. Pictured here are faculty poets Steve Mentz and Stephen Paul Miller as well as student poet Tess Patalano. Tess did a wonderful job representing our group by reading her poem, “Crossing NYC Ferry with Whitman” as part of the event.
Not pictured, because she arrived late, is student poet Yasmin Mohamed, whose great poem, “We Need to Be Set Free” appears on p 140 of Whitman on Walls!, Vol 2.
I brought a box of copies of the printed book for all the SJU poets who contributed – please stop by my office to pick yours up if you have a poem in it!
