2 Tenture-Track Instructor positions at SUNY Westchester CC

Instructor of English-Tenure Track  (2 positions)
DEPARTMENT/DIVISION:  School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Department of English seeks highly motivated candidates with strong educational credentials, a working knowledge of developments in the areas of developmental education reform, composition and rhetoric and student-centered pedagogy. We seek Instructors with interest and experience teaching developmental writing, and who can demonstrate active involvement in rhetoric and composition studies, especially in the area of developmental English and developmental education reform. The successful candidates will teach a full complement of courses and be committed to supporting the college’s curriculum development and mission. In addition to a teaching load of 12 contact hours per semester, successful candidates are expected to participate in departmental and college activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:  A Master’s degree in Composition and Rhetoric, English, English Education or MFA and the equivalent of one year of full-time college-level teaching experience are required. A Ph.D. or A.B.D. and active involvement in the field of rhetoric and composition (demonstrated through publications, conference presentations, and/or teaching experience), preferred.  Knowledge of student-centered learning, cultural competencies, and familiarity with the integration of technology into teaching and learning also preferred.
POSITION EFFECTIVE:  January 2016
SALARY & BENEFITS: Starting salary $57,415 plus excellent benefits.
