Congrats to Stephanie Montalti, English Ph.D. candidate and adjunct instructor here at St. John’s, who just published an informal article/blog post for the Children’s Literature Association!
Her work, “Teaching Heinrich Hoffman’s Der Struwwelpeter: Power Dynamics, Authority, & Responsibility,” delineates the methods, questions posed to her students, their informed responses and discussions, and the way teaching Hoffman acted to move the course, the class dialogue; all while having a conversation facilitated through her piece with scholars over the last few decades.
Stephanie’s writing can be found here, along with a catalog of other relevant writings and discourses highlighted on the blog and resource page for the international committee of the Children’s Literature Association.
