It’s time to celebrate another one of our successful recent graduates! Dr. Meghan Gilbert, who’s now an Associate Professor of English at Guttman Community College (CUNY), has won a prize for her book!
The Children’s Literature Association gives an Annual Edited Book award. For books published in 2021, Dr. Gilbert and her co-author Miranda A. Green-Barteet, won for their book, Race in Young Adult Speculative Fiction, which was published by the University of Mississippi Press.
As the Press notes, the book provides “a sustained analysis of race and representation in young adult speculative fiction.” It covers such popular books and authors as the Divergent series, The Red Queen, The Lunar Chronicles, and the Infernal Devices trilogy.
We are very proud to see the brilliant and inspiring work of our SJU alums recognized in the world!
