On Thursday August 7, in the seminar room in the basement of St. John Hall, Dr. Sonia Adams completed the major requirement of her PhD in English by successfully defending her dissertation in front of her committee. The dissertation is entitled, “‘Signature Gestures’: Anchoring the Black Diasporic Feminist Praxis in English Studies.” She is pictured here with her mentor, Dr. Dohra Ahmad, and the members of her committee, Dr. Robert Fanuzzi and Dr. Raj Chetty.
