Marisa Berman Hollywood is a mid-career museum professional and has worked at numerous cultural organizations throughout the NYC area. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Kupferberg Holocaust Resource Center at Queensborough Community College, CUNY, where she works in the administration of Center operationsdeveloping all public programming. Since joining the staff in 2012, she has helped to increase the number of academic departments, faculty, and students using the Center to supplement their curriculums and better engage in history. Each semester she facilitates between 30 and 50 educational programs and tours for QCC classes as well as leading semester-long seminars on the history of the Holocaust. Prior to this position she was Executive Director of the Queens Historical Society located at the Kingsland Homestead – NYC Landmark and part of the Historic House Trust of NYC, from 2007-2012. She has also worked at: Sands Point Preserve, Old Bethpage Village Restoration, the Cradle of Aviation Air and Space Museum, and various public and private libraries.

Currently a doctoral student at St. John’s University, she is studying English with a focus in cultural studies and creative nonfiction. Her areas of interest include: the use of testimony as teaching tool, Academic Service-Learning in the classroom, personal narratives, and creative ways to teach local history.

As Marisa L. Berman she is a contributor to the website Narratively – named one of TIME’s “50 Best Websites of 2012.” She is also a historian specializing in the local history of NY and Long Island. Her publications include: Images of America: Nunley’s Amusement Park(Arcadia Publishing, 2013), and the newly published Historic Amusement Parks of Long Island (The History Press, 2015).
