Bard MAT in Teaching

Here’s an email from the Bard College MAT program, which might interest some of St John’s students:
My name is Derek Furr, and I am an Associate Professor of Literature with the Bard College Master of Arts in Teaching Program. I am writing during this spring recruitment season to ask that you share my contact information with literature students who might be interested in becoming English teachers. I have attached a PDF specific to our English/literature program to this email. Please feel free to share any/all of this with students and colleagues.
For the BardMAT, we are seeking students who are passionate about literary studies because we believe that great teachers have a solid foundation in the subject matter they teach. The curriculum of our program gives equal weight to advanced literary study and the development of pedagogical knowledge. At the same time, our students spend the year working in area public schools.
If you have students or advisees who are considering a career in public or private school education, I hope you will point them our way. The deadline to apply to our program for the coming summer is April 29. My contact information is listed below as well as the general contact information for our admissions office. We can also be found on the web at www.bard.edu/mat/ny.
