Peggy Davis-Suzuki

Peggy Davis-Suzuki is a Doctoral Fellow for the Institute of Writing Studies whose academic concentration is in Composition and Rhetoric. Peggy’s Interests are in developing student writing that is inclusive, reflective, practical, and academic, and to promote self-awareness, wellness, creativity, heightened global perception, and leadership abilities. Peggy will be presenting at the MLA Conference in January and was invited to present at NCTE this fall. Other conferences include CCCC’s T2T, NeMLA, Mellon Faculty Diversity Project, Southern Regional Composition Conference, and SJU’s Graduate Conference.
Before teaching composition and literature classes at SJU, Hunter and LIM Colleges, Peggy studied at The National Shakespeare Conservatory, Michael Howard and HB Studios, The Salon with Joan Evans, and Patsy Rodenburg from The Royal Shakespeare Company. She has performed as an actor extensively in New York, nationally, and internationally. Some of her favorite work includes Twelfth Night, King Lear, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet, Miss Margarida’s Way, The Good Woman of Setzuan, and Hair. Developing plays is also a passion for her. She worked to develop RANT, an original stage play, which was presented at The Public Theater, and performed at La Mama Etc, and The Cherry Lane Theatre as a benefit for Safe Horizon’s battered women’s shelters.
In addition to acting, Peggy is a certified Pilates and yoga instructor and personal trainer and will be running in this year’s NYC Marathon. This fall, Peggy co-hosted The First Annual Kids Run for a Cause, a children’s run across the Williamsburg Bridge, to benefit ALS and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Her written work includes, “Training Manual for Exercise Instruction” with Hirsch Isen, published by The Bridge Inc.
