Possible Futures: A Career Fair at the MLA Convention

St. John’s University students attending the MLA Convention on Friday, January 5th are welcomed and encouraged to attend the Possible Futures career fair from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. An excerpt about the event is offered below:

About Possible Futures

Do you have advanced training in writing, languages, teaching, or research? Are you curious about jobs outside of academia? Attend the Possible Futures Career Fair to find out more about organizations eager to hire humanities professionals for a variety of positions.

Organized by the MLA as part of the MLA Annual Convention, the Possible Futures Career Fair offers job seekers with advanced training in the humanities a chance to connect with recruiters from mission-driven organizations and companies. Recruiters will be looking for professionals who are able to:

  • Write and communicate effectively
  • Work well independently
  • Learn quickly and meet deadlines
  • Train and supervise others
  • Communicate across cultures (often multilingually)
