Internship Opportunity: Reporting Internship at the Fire Island Chronicle

St. John’s University students at all levels are invited to apply for the following opportunity for writing work in journalism at the Fire Island Chronice:

Position: Summer Reporter Internship
Location: Fire Island, NY

Description:

Fire Island Chronicle is a biweekly newspaper covering Fire Island, NY, a barrier island off the coast of Long Island.

We are now accepting applications for 2018 summer reporters. The deadline to apply is March 15, 2018.

Reporters will be paid per article. Internship credit is possible, where permitted.

Reporters will be writing stories covering the news and events of every community on Fire Island, including, but not limited to, town meetings, fundraisers, fitness, gardening, restaurant reviews, safety, sports, and miscellaneous features.

Ideal applicants will have some writing experience, clear writing, and the ability to take initiative. Reporters are required to have transportation to/from the Fire Island Ferries, based in Bay Shore, Sayville and Patchogue, NY. Prior knowledge of Fire Island is not required, but willingness to learn is crucial.
