MUSE Applications Now Open!

2nd annual MSU Mentoring Underrepresented Studies in English (MUSE) Program is now open for applications!

Please encourage Undergrad Seniors and MA Students who are interested in pursuing a PhD in English Literature and/or Film to apply for MUSE: a 4-day-all-expenses-paid-visit at MSU. We are particularly interested in students that would like to conduct literary/digital/film/cultural studies research at the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and ethnic studies. We also have departmental strengths in Victorian Studies, Comics and Pop Culture, Modernisms, Medieval/Early Modern, Postcolonial/Decolonial Thought, and Afro-Diasporic and Latinx Studies.

Last year we hosted 8 brilliant students from across the US and Puerto Rico and 4 of them are coming to MSU’s PhD program *fully funded*! The workshops, talks, presentations, and social events are a great prep for grad school and we are so happy to have the opportunity to mentor first-gen and students of color regardless of where they end up for their graduate degrees. This is also a great CV builder for young scholars as they will be “MUSE Scholars” and will be featured on our website as well as receive one-on-one mentoring.
