Liz Thomae
BA in English Literature and Professional Writing, Purdue University
MA in English, St. John’s University (in progress)
Liz is a first-year master’s student at St John’s University. A native Hoosier, Liz loves living, working, and studying in the City of Dreams. After graduating from her undergraduate education at Purdue University, she spent two years “climbing the corporate ladder” in Atlanta at both a Fortune 200 company and a med-tech start-up in client management and sales. Somewhere along the line, she realized that her heart lies with people, especially students, and with fostering knowledge and success. With her masters degree, her intent is to teach, to challenge norms, and to help shape the world into a more inclusive, holistic place.
Her research interests are progressively developing as she continues her education but primarily consist of postcolonial literature, religion and literature, and drama. She currently works as a graduate assistant in the St. John’s University Writing Center, where she is able to encourage learning and healthy dialogue in an intimate setting with students from an array of different backgrounds and walks of life. When not studying, she loves to attend Broadway shows, attempt to find New York City’s best ice cream cone, and act in film and on stage. Catch her in the 2020 film Counter Column!
