Doctoral Fellowship Opportunities at JWJI

The James Weldon Johnson Institute has open applications for fellowship opportunities for Pre-Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Scholars.

The Johnson Institute is committed to recruiting only the best and most promising scholars in the field. The expectation is that Visiting Fellows will complete a major work that will assume the form of a monograph or other equally substantial forms of scholarship. Beyond the Johnson Institute, Visiting Fellows are institutionally affiliated with the Emory College of Arts and Sciences.

We welcome applications from scholars in the humanities. We are interested in research projects across the spectrum of the humanities that examine the origins, evolution, impact, and legacy of race, difference, and the modern quest for civil and human rights. We also support research projects that examine race and ethnicity and its points of intersection with other identities and movements addressing differences along gender, class, religious, or sexual lines.

Application is open until January 31, 2022.
