Assistant Professor of English, African-American Literature

“The Department of English at Willamette University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in African American Literature at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August 2016.

Successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. in English or related field, have a promising record of scholarly publication, and have experience teaching at the university level. We particularly welcome applications from candidates prepared to teach introductory and theory/methodology courses in American Ethnic Studies, as well as the long history of African American literature (including 18th/19thC). Desirable sub-specialties include any of the following: multi-ethnic literatures, postcolonial literatures, film studies, women’s and gender studies. Teaching load is 3-2 and will include general education literature courses and advanced courses in areas of specialization, and courses in close reading and literary theory.”
