The students, faculty, and staff at the St. John’s University English Department are proud to extend our congratulations to Dr. Laura McCalla, who successfully defended her dissertation on Tuesday, April 3, 2018!
Dr. McCalla explored ideas about black representations in media and beyond her dissertation, which is titled: Half-Breeds, Tramps, and Thieves: Literary and Visual Representations of Blackness in Archetypal Mulatto Characters in Popular Culture.
