From Carol Meyer, the Director of the Bard College Master of Arts in Teaching Program:
We are seeking those students who are passionate about literature because we believe that great teachers have a solid foundation in the subject matter they teach. The design of our program equally emphasizes continued disciplinary study at the graduate level as well as the development of pedagogical knowledge. At the same time, our students spend the entire year working in classrooms. These three components are the basis for creating the kinds of teachers our schools need today.
Attached is a simple FAQ document with specific information about our literature program, which will be helpful for any of your students who may want to consider teaching. We look for students who have majored, or have a strong academic background, in the subject they want to teach.
