Kainat is a first-year English Ph.D. student at St. John’s University. Currently, she is a Graduate Fellow at the University, working as a research assistant and co-editor of the English department’s magazine Humanities Review. A New York native, she previously taught for four years as a full-time middle and high school English teacher at a private Muslim school on Long Island, and later, taught composition courses to first-year students at SUNY Old Westbury for three years. Her professional interests include helping students to develop their narrative voices and producing writing that is meaningful to them.
Her current research interests include American literature, cultural studies, feminist criticism, and composition and rhetoric.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, painting, knitting, cuddling with her cat, and working on home projects with her mom.
