Kamaya is a Ph.D., candidate in English at St. John’s University. She has been an Administrator and high school English teacher for most of her career. She has been a member of several independent school communities in Washington DC, Cleveland, and Brooklyn. She is originally from the South Shore of Massachusetts. Kamaya is a proud partner to her husband, Jeremiah, and a mother of three phenomenal young girls. Kamaya’s research interests include the black church, the education of young black girls in independent schools, and black female sexuality and agency.
