Spring 2013 Marketing Internship Opportunity

MEDIA CONNECT, formerly Planned Television Arts, a division of Finn Partners, is a media placement public relations firm that specializes in book publicity. We have several positions open for Spring 2013 marketing interns. The intern would work very closely with the chief marketing officer of MEDIA CONNECT, a division of Finn Partners, a Ruder Finn Co.
About MEDIA CONNECT: We are the nation’s largest and oldest book promoters in the country. For 50 years we have promoted best-selling and leading authors to the news media. We have also promoted celebrities, non-profits, consumer products, and major policy experts. The environment is not corporate, but fun and youthful, and provides a great learning opportunity. We’ve scheduled interviews for our clients with Oprah, Today Show, Larry King Live, The View, New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and hundreds of other media outlets. We have a very active year-round intern program that accepts interns from a variety of colleges and universities.
Media Connect will now accept applications through December 1 – but will make acceptance decisions prior to this date should qualified candidates present themselves sooner. The internship is for three full days per week, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, from January 15th through May 17, 2013.
MEDIA CONNECT provides a dynamic opportunity for students to participate in a challenging marketing atmosphere, offering the following to its interns:
• Provide one-on-one training in the art of marketing, sales, and publicity
• Give direct exposure to contacting potential clients
• Help them confirm a career decision
• Provide a letter of reference
• Mentor in core competencies and allow for hands-on experience
The job duties include the following:
*Developing new business leads *Building a database of potential clients *Brainstorming and sharing your ideas on how to market MEDIA CONNECT *Screening potential clients with pre-interview calls *Conducting marketing research.
MEDIA CONNECT is looking for students who are: Great communicators and love to talk; Go-getters and aren’t shy; Will allow their creativity to shine through; Eager to learn and catch on fast; Good writers who value the written word; Persuasive and passionate; Research savvy.
These are non-salaried positions but do offer a great opportunity for learning about marketing.
Many MEDIA CONNECT interns have been hired by the company so it is an excellent opportunity to get a foot in the door of an established public relations firm.
