Rhet./Comp Assistant Professor Position – CUNY Kingsborough

The English Department at Kingsborough Community College seeks two (2) full-time composition/rhetoric specialists at the Assistant Professor rank for the 2019-2020 academic year. Candidates should be prepared to teach first-year composition and developmental English courses, literature offerings, and other electives, as needed. Evidence of on-going scholarly activity in composition and related fields is required, as well as an ability to work collaboratively with others in a large, active department that serves a diverse student population.

Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred: A Ph.D. in English with specialty in composition or English Education is required.

COMPENSATION

$47,340 – $84,354.Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
