SJU Students to Present at CCCCs in Chicago!

St John’s English graduate students and Writing Center Grad Assistants have had their Roundtable proposal accepted at the prestigious national Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC2022), which will be held in Chicago next spring.

The panel’s title is “Equitable Hiring Practices: Promoting Rhetorical Agency in Writing Center Development.”

The presenters will include Tina Iemma, Colleen McClintock, Jariah McFadden (a WC GA and student in the MA in Sociology program), and Soannie Maldonado

The panel, which is based on the work of the SJU Writing Center, will “examine the student-centering methodology behind our hiring process. We will speak into the ways that our writing center fits into larger social and racial justice reforms and dissect the relationship between university writing centers and diversity, equity and inclusion work, ultimately reflecting on the most critical factors that helped us to define a more inclusive hiring process.”

Congrats to our students, and good luck at CCCCs!
