Sr. Thoa Phan is a Dominican Sister from Vietnam. She is a first-year M.A student in English at St. John’s University.
Sr. Thoa was born and raised in North Vietnam. She came to America in 2014 and spent two and half years studying English. She graduated from Brescia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English in 2020. She has a deep passion for becoming an English teacher. She hopes that she will go back home to Vietnam and teach English. As a religious Sister, she desires to fulfill her congregation’s mission to support education and offer poor children the help they need to learn another language and culture when she returns to her country. She is interested in gender studies and sexuality, along with other cultures. As a first-year M.A student in English, she wants to explore the most effective methods for teaching. She desires to study deeply and gain more knowledge, which will help her future in Vietnam.
