The Wassaic Project seeks a part-time Print Fellow to support our Editions Program and artist residency based in Wassaic, NY. The Print Fellow will live and work in Wassaic, manage our print shop, provide support for projects by artists-in-residence and visiting artists, and produce Wassaic Project promotional materials. Print Fellow will also work closely with six to eight Editions Artists, and get to keep one print from each edition. The Print Fellow will have an opportunity to work closely with a community of artists, and has 24-hour access to the print shop.
QUALIFICATIONS
- MA preferred
- Proficiency in Photoshop, CMYK Color Separation, and other digital media
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Familiarity with shop maintenance and transparency printing/troubleshooting
- Experience providing instruction or guidance
- A interest in becoming a part of the Wassaic community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily walk-through and clean up/troubleshooting
- Weekly check-in
- Monthly orientations and coordinating with residents
- Weekly hours of technical support: 16 hours/week to be scheduled with the rhythm of the residency (i.e. two full days, four half days, or whatever combination works best for the fellow and the resident’s needs)
- Print WP festival merchandise: t-shirts, posters, tote bags, other items as needed; coordinate with Design Fellow. Approximately 40-50 hours with assistance from intern and/or resident work hours. (Festival is first weekend in August)
- Print Editions: edition prints and assist artists with file preparation (no more than two per month)
- Assist with Printmaking workshops with teens and adults (additional compensation)
COMPENSATION
- $700/month on contract on payroll
- Housing, private room in a shared house (value: $600/month)
- 24-hour access to the print shop and facilities as well as our wood and metal shops
- Semi-open, raw studio space
- One artist proof from every Print Edition Artist. Past artists have included James Siena, William Powhida, Jennifer Dalton and Molly Dilworth, among many others.
