“What You Need to Know About Me” Anthology CFP

“What You Need to Know About Me” is an exciting new anthology (published by The Hawkins Project, co-founded by Dave Eggers) that highlights the experiences of young people (ages 11-24) who have immigrated from one country to another.

In this fraught political moment, the editors of this anthology are interested in centering the narrative of migration on the voices of young people.

Of our contributors, we want to know: How has the experience of migration impacted your life? What have been the gifts and challenges of such a life-changing move?

Here are some specifics about this project:

  • No previous publication experience is needed to be considered for this anthology.
  • Submissions should be from young people between the ages of 11 and 24 who have had the experience of immigrating from one country to another (please note that this is not limited to immigrating into/out of the US).
  • Our editorial board is looking for nonfiction pieces between 100-1500 words (yes, our range spans from very, very, short to considerably longer!) and poetry (3 pages max). Please note that this anthology will not include fiction.

On occasion, we will accept a piece of writing that has been previously published.

Writers can submit multiple pieces for consideration, however no more than two pieces will be accepted per student.

In order to be considered for this anthology, all nonfiction and poetry must be sent to: submittoneedtoknow@gmail.com by Monday July 1, 2019.

If you have any further questions about the project, please don’t hesitate to be in touch: submittoneedtoknow@gmail.com
