Emily is a first-year master’s student at St. John’s University. In 2021, she received her BA in English from the University of Texas Permian Basin, graduating Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, she jumped straight into pursuing her master’s but has previously worked as an editor and writing tutor. Despite being a native Texan, Emily loves living and studying in New York City.

Current research interests include gender and racial studies as well as social identity in creative writing pedagogy. Previous research includes animal linguistic studies and gender linguistic theory. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree full-time. With her master’s, Emily’s goal is to become a journalist or teacher, creating an inclusive space for expression and musings.  When she is not studying, she enjoys practicing yoga, caring for her assortment of plants, adventuring through the city, and attending concerts or festivals!
