Study Abroad Opportunity

The University of New Hampshire is proud to sponsor its thirty-third annual faculty-led summer program in the United Kingdom at Cambridge University. The program is open to all second-, third-, and fourth-year undergraduates with a minimum GPA of 2.50; all graduate students with a minimum GPA of 2.50; a limited number of first-year students with exceptional records; and anyone who has completed their formal education with a minimum of one full year of college.
The program will be accommodated at Gonville and Caius College, one of the oldest and best known of the thirty-one colleges that make up Cambridge University. Students stay at the college from July 11 – August 19, 2011, and choose from a series of courses taught by a distinguished British and American faculty.

This summer, our program will offer the following 6 courses, of which students choose two:
History 497: Explorations in Historical Perspectives: Princes, Power and Politics: the British Monarchy and its opponents from Henry VIII to Victoria.
English 531: Introduction to Drama: Crime, the City, and Early Modern Comedy.
English 703: Advanced Nonfiction Writing: Travel Writing.
This course is also available for graduate credit as English 803.
English 758: Shakespeare (performance and interpretation).
This course is also available for graduate credit as English 858.
English 773: British Literature of the 20th Century (poetry of Hardy, Yeats, and Eliot).
This course is also available for graduate credit as English 873.
English 797(H): Special Studies in Literature: James Joyce’s Ulysses.
This course is also available for graduate credit as English 897(H).

In addition to taking courses, students will travel to London, Dover, Canterbury, Stratford-on-Avon, and other destinations in the U.K. on our weekly excursions, and be able to see performances such as: The Merchant of Venice, Royal Shakespeare Company, Strafford-Upon-Avon, All’s Well That Ends Well, Globe Theatre, London, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Royal Shakespeare Company, Strafford-Upon-Avon.
