Rutgers English Diversity Institute: deadline extended to 3/20

The application deadline for the Rutgers English Diversity Institute has
been extended to March 20, 2017!

This week-long program, running from June 3rd until June
9th, 2017, at the flagship New Brunswick campus of Rutgers University, is
designed to encourage students from diverse cultural, economic, and ethnic
backgrounds to consider graduate study in Literatures in English. We have
designed this program for advanced undergraduates and recent graduates who
have excelled in English but who might not otherwise contemplate a career
in higher education. Are you currently working with a student who might
benefit from a week’s immersion in advanced literary study? If so, please
encourage her or him to apply! Applications are now due March 20, 2017.

Students will spend their days learning about the different subfields in
English and American literature, and emerging fields and approaches, from
faculty who are at the vanguard of these developments. Current graduate
students will supervise Institute students and offer advice and assistance
regarding the graduate school application process, both informally and as
part of a formal application workshop. The institute will cover travel and
living expenses for the duration of the program and provide a stipend to
each student of $500.

Rutgers faculty who have or will participate in the Diversity Institute
include Cheryl Wall, Evie Shockley, Abena Busia, Allan Isaac, Ann Coiro,
Ben Sifuentes-Jauregui, Colin Jager, Carter Mathes, Doug Jones, Elin
Diamond, John Kucich, Meredith McGill, Michael McKeon, Michelle Stephens,
and Rebecca Walkowitz.
